Hello! Hello! Hellooooooo!!!!!!
Soooooo, I don’t know what I said I was going to talk about last week for my next post (this one), but I took a spontaneous mini-vacay to Busan this past weekend, so that’s what we’re going to talk about!
So yeah, Busan. I’ve been to Busan before. For those of you who do not know where Busan is, it’s in southern South Korea and known for it’s beaches! Busan is also wear I originally wanted to find a job in South Korea, but that obviously didn’t happen, but maybe next year! Like I said, I’ve been to Busan before, but it was just for a week and this was during my first time to South Korea for school. I didn’t get a chance to really enjoy the city like my fellow peers because I had extreme jet lag and slept basically the entire, which was a very bad idea! So anyway, I was invited to go to Busan for the weekend, and I went with a group of friends.
IT WAS AMAZING!!! We stayed at a hostel owned by the coolest Korean dude ever. His name is June, and he’s basically a Korean Rasta. He loves Bob Marley and other things associated with . . . . . rasta . . . LOL!!
Among the things we did, we went for drinks, went to the beach, met this cool kid that was obsessed with basketball and Michael Jordan. We tried to find cheap bar to go to after that, but we couldn’t find one, so the girls went to bed, and I went with the boys to eat chicken and beer and talked about . . . . sex, LOL and their CRAZY stories!!! Man!
The next day, we woke up early to go to a Jimjilbang. This was the only reason why I went to Busan originally. To go to the jimjilbang. A jimjilbang is a public bath house slash spa place. The one we went to was called Spaland which was supposed to be the best jimjilbang in Korea. The men and women are separated, and you have to GET NAKED and can go in different baths that have certain minerals and different temperatures. You can also get a back or full body scrub and message.
I was sooooooo nervous about getting naked, not only in front of my friends, but also the curious, tiny, don’t have much of anything to look at Korean women. We were taking off our clothes, I just repeated, “I can’t believe I’m doing this. I can’t believe I’m doing this . . . .” and when I got to taking off my undergarments, I started repeating, “I’m doing this. I’m doing this. (underwear) I’m really doing this. I’m really doing this . . . ” LOL!!!!!!!
In the end, I did enjoy myself. I feel like I bonded with my female friends. I did get some looks, but no one touched me, and there were even a couple of Korean women who helped me (while I was naked) when I looked confused, LOL!!
NOW – the full body scrub – I DID DO IT!!! You go into this back room where there are about 6 tables, buckets of hot water and women wearing back lingerie. You lay on the table. The women puts a mud mask on your face, and then gets to scrubbing your body. And when I say full body scrub, I REALLY mean FUUUULLLLLL BODYYYYYYYY scrub!!! Homegirl scrubbed EVERY part, LOL!!. I was a little uncomfortable, and it did hurt sometimes, but my skin felt awesome afterwards.
After we were done with the baths, we put on the scrub-like clothes they gave us and met the guys where all the different rooms were. There was a message room, oxygen take room, sauna room, salt room, etc. Some people ate, then we split off to different heat rooms. Me and one of the girls jumped back into the baths before we left to leave.
Would I do it again? Yes – and I hopefully will soon!
I couldn’t take any picture, so I just have this one that I found on trusted Google Images.
The rest of the trip we just hung out and some returned back to our house earlier than the rest of us.
It was a great trip, but now I don’t have any money, but we get paid next week, and I might be going to Seoul early November, so I’ll definitely will keep yall posted for that.
That’s it – gotta get back to work!
